BACK TO 1930 BERLIN!!!!

I can officially announce my summer show - SF Playhouse's CABARET directed by Bill English with musical direction by Martin Rojas-Dietrich. I can't believe it! This is my first venture as a professional musical director which means the work at NDNU has paid off. I will be playing piano for the show, serving as musical director and playing the role of Max which means that this show will complete my Equity Membership Program and allow me to be a part of the union. The show runs for a LOOOONG time. June 28 - September 20. I am over the moon about this. Rehearsals start in a couple of weeks so I will write more later. Cabaret is my favorite show of all time - this will be my fourth production of the delicious Kander & Ebb musical.

Yay!!!

ALSO - I saw the preview performance of BUG at the SF Playhouse last night directed by Jon Tracy. I wasn't looking forward to it because I saw the movie and the movie stunk but the play is AMAZING. Terrific cast with knockout performances by Susi Damilano & Gabriel Marin. The sound design is out of this world. I never really noticed the job of the sound designer as I did last night. The set is brilliant and Jon really did a terrific job with his direction. The play is a creepy psychological thriller and it scared the shit out of me. Even though I knew the ending it still gave me the chills. I told Jon last night - the last moment of the show is pure theatre magic. Go see BUG at SF Playhouse which opens this Saturday.

Cheers

Martin
