LOTS OF STUFF...

Hello everyone

*I hope y'all got through this horrid heat wave. It was an oven here in Redwood City but this week looks to be a bit cooler. Last week I was diagnosed with diabetes which doesn't come as a surprise to me since both my parents have it. Some changes have to happen in life but it's not the end of the world. I do have to take medication every day and control my blood sugar but I am still young and I can beat this - I know I can.

*Last week I headed to Marin to see my friend Cathleen Riddley (my Aldonza in Man of La Mancha) in a beautiful production of Love Person presented by Marin Theatre Company. I have never seen anything there and I was very impressed with their work (incidentally I will be making another trip to beautiful Marin this week when I go see their Jacques Brel musical). Love Person was a beautiful theatre experience. Sign language is not often used in the theatre and it was the prominent language used in the play. In the end, the story was all about love and the cast was terrific. The production ended this past weekend and I am sure glad I got to see it. It was so wonderful to see Cathleen use not just her acting talent but also her sign language talent (she is an interpreter in real life.)

*I met with my stage manager and director to discuss schedules and music arrangements and I am so excited about this project. I have been working hard on learning the score and can't wait to start rehearsals and meet everyone. Tonight we have our first full production meeting with all the designers and staff. I still can't believe I have been blessed with this job opportunity.

*My voice teacher Debra Lambert was part of the all-star cast of Follies In Concert at the Paramount Theatre in Oakland. She sang "One More Kiss." I really wish I could have been there to see it. Here is Steve Winn's review in The Chronicle.

*My grades for this past semester were finally posted and I ended the semester with a very respectable 3.5 GPA. I was thrilled that I PASSED a couple of classes that I was worried about. Overall 2 B's, 3 A's and 2 A+'s! If you see my transcript from high school you wouldn't believe the grades I received. Yeah for growing up!

*This upcoming week is a busy one - I will continue to work on the score and I am singing at my coach, Clint Cancio's studio recital on Wednesday, will see Jacquel Brel on Thursday and also see Parlor Opera's Nozze di Figaro on Saturday.

That's all from me

Stay cool everyone!

=+)

M.
