MAN OF LA MANCHA - WEEK 3

This was a painful weekend - not only were rehearsals intense & long but I have been suffering from this awful pain in my right foot. I first thought that it was a gout attack (which I suffer from) but with gout, the pain is so unbearable I can't walk - this is more of arthritis pain (I think) so having to be on my feet all weekend was very painful (thanks for nothing vicodin!) Although I remained 100% professional and gave it my all underneath all I wanted to do was cry from discomfort.

Tomorrow is my last day off until July 2nd - which is really scary. My foot must heal at once - I don't want to have to think about having this pain while doing this very demanding show. The show itself is coming along nicely and we move into the theatre on Tuesday which will bring us a whole new batch of energy. The set was being loaded in today and I am thrilled that from now on we will be in our actual space (the rehearsal theatre we were using was TINY and it was really hot in there with a cast of 14)

I am so crazy about my new pal LJ who plays The Governor/Innkeeper in the show. She is a fabulous performer and an absolute sweetheart. She was so scared of her song because she doesn't consider herself to be a "musical" performer but her number rocks and it's going to be a showstopper. Today I told her that she was a "musical theatre SUPERSTAR!" I think she liked that. Our cast is amazing and each member of this ensemble is a superstar. I am very proud of the company I'm keeping with this show.

Okay - I will try to write later this week (we have 3 more rehearsals left before tech) and then I will be on hiatus from blogging for a little while. Besides the play beginning previews soon I have callbacks for another show and I start teaching at Hillbarn Conservatory oh yeah and I return to work at Max's the day after Man of La Mancha opens - am I insane? Probably.

=+)

Have a great week y'all.

Martin
