FINAL WEEK OF PRE-PRODUCTION
Okay so I am running around like a chicken with its head cut off trying to get myself ready for our first rehearsal which is tomorrow. This is the most daunting task I have ever taken on but I feel confident that I will maintain my sanity throughout the next four weeks - but that means that I will be out of touch with friends until the show is up and running.
Today I had to transcribe the song Married and it took a few hours - hopefully I wont have too much more transcribing work to do. I am adding some harmonies to Willkommen and Tomorrow Belongs To Me Reprise which I will hopefully finish later tonight.
This past week was a busy one filled with production meetings, and already some music rehearsals with Louis Parnell & Karen Grassle - just so I know what they sound like and both have great musicality so I look forward to working with them on this project.
On Wednesday night I sang a couple of songs at my friend Clint Cancio's studio recital. It was lovely and the audiences were so wonderful to me. I had gone to sit down and I had to get up and bow again - cool.
I was supposed to see Jacquel Brel at Marin Theatre Co. but I came down with a cold on Thursday and felt it would be wiser to stay in - unfortunately that was my only chance to see the show - I will miss seeing Kristin, Robbie & Alison perform which bums me out. I know that they will be wonderful.
On Saturday night I caught the last show I am going to be able to see for a LOOOONG time - a lovely production of Le Nozze di Figaro produced by Parlor Opera of San Francisco which is a company my friends Patti Urbano, Cole Grissom & Liz O'Neill have started. They performed the opera in this amazing Victorian house on Fell St. Each act of the opera took place in a different room - which was way cool.
Okay - back to work just thought I'd take a breather.
Please send good thoughts my way - I'm gonna need 'em!!
=+)

p.s. I just read that acclaimed director & actor Sydney Pollack died of cancer. He was one of the greatest directors of our time and one hell of an actor - just rent Tootsie and you'll see that he gives Dustin Hoffman a run for his money with some of those scenes. He will be missed.
