A GRAND NIGHT FOR SINGING

I had the most wonderful time last night performing at the Little Store. I always forget how much I love doing concert work and this was one great show. I opened the show with Beat out dat rhythm on a drum from Carmen Jones and segued into Some Enchanted Evening. Some of the highlights (that I think the audiences loved the most) was my rendition of The Masochism Tango, the Spanish song Granada, the title song from Man of La Mancha and of course the Toreador Song from the opera Carmen. My fellow performer Jen Oku did a great job - belting them out and singing some opera as well. Her set included Quando m'en vo from La Boheme, When I Look at You from The Scarlett Pimpernell and Something Wonderful from The King & I. She was so nervous at first but soon was kicking ass and taking names. Our duets included Suddenly Seymour from Little Shop of Horrors, All I Ask of You from Phantom and we ended the show with a beautiful rendition of Wheels of a Dream from Ragtime. The pianist, Anne Dillons is a sweetheart. I love doing this gig and I look forward in going back in the future.

This weekend I also caught my friend Hilary Little in a production of Songs for a New World in Gilroy. She was amazing. Her rendition of "I'm Not Afraid of Anything" was just beautiful. I also had a great time that night hanging out with my pal Sean Patrick O'Connor. It was a mini Sweeney reunion that night since the Beadle & Tobias were seeing the show but also in the audience was Pirelli - Joe Colletti. Also featured in the show was the hilarious Ruth E. Mullins who was also in the Sweeney cast. Small world.

I don't have much theatre stuff planned for this week - except I'm thinking of seeing 1776 at Saratoga Drama Group this weekend and on Thursday & Friday we are holding auditions for The Physicists at Canada.

That's all for now.
Have a great week everyone!

=+)
