THEATRE RESPONSE: ANNIE GET YOUR GUN

Last night I went to see a free preview of Foothill Music Theatre's Annie Get You Gun with my friend Kristen Sharpley and her lovely friend Katie. I had never seen the show and was looking forward to seeing my friends Sean Patrick O'Connor and Ted Zervoulakos perform in it.

There are some wonderful performances in the production - especially the main attraction Jessica Raaum as Annie - I have never seen her perform and she gave a very spirited performance with a lovely voice. She is on stage for a long time and sings a great deal. My friend Ted showed what an amazing dancer he is in his two numbers and kudos to my beloved Sean for giving a energized performance in the ensemble. The show is filled with lovely numbers including: There's No Business Like ShowBusiness, Moonshine Lullaby, Doin' What Comes Naturally, Anything You Can Do (a great number) and I Got Lost In His Arms. The show itself is a bit dated and at times not very P.C. - the whole "I need a man to be complete!" was wasted on me.

Foothill's production looks stunning - the costumes, the lighting & set were brilliantly done and Catherine Snider's orchestra was sublime - a lovely production which is dedicated to the memory of the late Dean Goodman - a long time supporter of FMT.
