THEATRE RESPONSE: BROOKLYN BOY

It was a great night in the theatre last night as I attended the final dress rehearsal of Brooklyn Boy presented by TheatreWorks. This funny (at times hilarious) and moving play about roots - where one came from and where one is going is wonderful. The cast assembled is out of this world, especially the leading character Eric Weiss played by actor Victor Talmadge (who never leaves the stage) is just brilliant.

My friend Kristin Stokes shines in the role of Alison. Kristin who is a force in Bay Area musical theatre shows that she can do it all. Not only is she a great singer & dancer she is also one hell of an actress. Her scene with Talmadge is one of the most realistic in the play. This is a great part for her and she is trult outstanding in it. I have been following Kristin's rising career and I am just so proud of her. It's so great to see good things happening to wonderful people.

Ray Reinhardt as Eric's father Manny broke my heart. The scenes between the father & son were funny, touching and at the end of the play heartbreaking.

The rest of the cast shines as well: David Kudler, Pamela Gaye Walker, Amy Renick (as a hilarious Jewish Hollywood agent) and Craig W. Marker who is a great actor and was so nice to look at onstage. Sometimes sitting in the front row has its perks =+)

I highly recommend seeing this production. TheatreWorks is presenting a great play. Previews start tonight and the show opens Saturday and will run to August 13. Don't mis it.
