BEAUTIFUL GIRLS

Follies closed on Sunday night to an incredible audience. I have never had so much fun on stage. To be a part of this was truly an honor. There was something in the air that Sunday - I think we were more relaxed since we had already done it once and gotten through it. My Dad and my friend Tyler were also there on Sunday night which made it more special. Here are some pics from the closing night party and below a little clip of my number! =+)

With two of my beloved mentors - Marc Jacobs who is responsible for giving me some of my happiest memories on stage and my teacher & friend Debra Lambert.

With my friend Dottie Lester-White. Dotty is such an amazing choreographer - she really put me to work in Urinetown. She is always pushing me to do better and I love her dearly.

My friend & my teacher Wesla Whitfield. Her rendtion of "In Buddy's Eyes" and "Losing My Mind" were worth the price of admission. She is one of the best storytellers I have ever had the pleasure to work with. As my teacher she made me fall in love once more with The Great American Songbook and taught me to sing from my heart. I am just crazy about her.

Me & my pal DTK - everytime I work with this woman I have a good time. Enough said - I love her to pieces.

With my new friend Meg Mackay. Meg was so nice and funny as can be!!! I was a huge fan of hers before we did this show. Her rendition of "I'm Still Here" was HOT!

This is a little clip of final dress rehearsal for "Beautiful Girls" the opening number in FOLLIES IN CONCERT.

YES, I'M STILL HERE!!

Hi folks - sorry again to have neglected my blogging posts (shame on me) but there hasn't been enough hours in the day lately. I have been sick with a cold/cough/strep/fuckachocka pow illness that hasn't gone away. Thank god I was finally given antibiotics and I should be on the road to recovery.

There's so much to catch up on but not enough time for me to write (I have to head out for rehearsal in a few) so I'll just give you the highlights:

School - I passed ALL my midterms which is a fucking miracle. I did study (hard!!!) and passed and I even have an A- in my Religions of the World class - That's a miracle in itself.

Follies - we had two full days of rehearsals this weekend and I can say that this project is the coolest thing I have done at school and one of the coolest things I have EVER done - it will go into the resume (I don't care that it's just a concert version.) Getting to bring out all the divas in the opening number gave me the biggest fucking smile. I LOVE my song and everyone is so nice!!! Meg Mackay is a hoot and I told her much I loved her work in Putting It Together years ago at TW. I spoke to Erie Mills about the 85 Follies Concert which Sondheim was a part of! (goosebumps) and Wesla Whitfield breaks my heart. Her rendition of Buddy's Eyes is worth the price of admission. Everyone is so freaking talented and super nice. I can't wait to do this show in front of an audience - only two performances folks - this Friday at 8 PM and Sunday at 7 PM - you don't want to miss this one.

The Secret Garden - is coming along though the drive to HMB is getting to me (lately there has been accidents & heavy traffic on 92.) I feel pretty good about the show and I hope people will come see it. More on this later.

Okay folks - that's about it. Just busy, busy busy!!!

Have a great week y'all!

=+)

p.s. I will try to take pics of Follies this weekend and I will post some here when I can.

WHEN GOOD THINGS HAPPEN TO GOOD PEOPLE

I love reporting good news that happens to good people. When shitty people have good news I just want them to die (just kidding) my buddy Ryder Bach whom I met when we were both understudies at TheatreWorks for Harold & Maude is now living in LA and will be part of the cast of The History Boys. Read all about it on Playbill. Ryder is a sweetheart of a guy and a great talent - I couldn't be happier for him. Congrats Ryder!

In other news I am celebrating my sister's upcoming birthday a little bit early (her birthday is on Sunday) by taking her out to dinner and to see Sweeney Todd @ ACT (those of you who know me - I rarely see a show more than once but this is worth seeing more than twice!)

ILLNESS!!!

I have spent more than the last seven days completely sick. Of course it has to come right before midterms and the two shows I am juggling but not to fret (is the semester almost over?!!!) as all will be well at the end (is it December yet?!!!!)

My family has moved up to the modern technology era as we now have high speed internet. Yes friends I have had dial-up for as long as I can remember and I can't believe I didn't switch over YEARS ago!!! One of the coolest things I have found out is the beauty of YOUTUBE which I couldn't watch at home before because it would never load. It's hilarious what these people will post on the internet! Hilarious stuff. This is just s silly example of why I love YouTube - Sondheim on The Simpsons. Enjoy.

Oh horrible cold begone!!! Everyone else have a great week!

Cheers

Martin
