REFLECTING ON 2010

It's been a while since my last post and I can't believe that 2010 is done. I never could have foreseen the amazing opportunities I have had in both my theatre life and personal life this year. Of course the biggest thing that has happened to me was the opportunity to make my SF Opera debut opposite the great Plácido Domino in Cyrano de Bergerac. I will treasure my time at the opera house, the amazing artists I got to work with and the honor of sharing the stage with one of my idols. I can't wait to be able to see the production next year when it airs on public television and in Bay Area movie theatres. I am so grateful to my theatre family at San Jose Stage Company, where I got to perform twice this year and was also honored to be a new Stage Company Associate Artist. There really is no place like home and Randy & Cathy King and Rick Singleton and the rest of the company are so dear to my heart. They believe in me, when I sometimes don't believe in myself.

We recently wrapped up our wonderful production of Every Christmas Story Ever Told which was received by wonderful audiences and some of the best reviews of my career thus far. Here are a few:

Directing was something that didn't just dabble on this year, but went full speed ahead, directin a full blown production of Urinetown at Coastal Rep and two musicals for Hillbarn's Conservatory. I am hopeful that 2011 has some more directing for me in store. As an actor, you're only as good as your last job and I am thrilled that 2011 already has some wonderful opportunities that I am hoping will come to life. Of course, none of this would be possible without the constant love and encouragement of my family - my theatre family and the one at home. 8 shows in total - I am a little wiped out but wouldn't trade it for anything in the world. 2 plays, 3 directing gigs, a vocal direction gig at Hillsdale High, an opera and a musical in concert that gave me the opportunity to sing to the amazing Lisa Vroman, another idol of mine. 2011 you have big shoes to fill.

I wish all of you a wonderful and happy new year.

Cheers!
