Last night I had the great pleasure of seeing a terrific production of Macbeth at Shotgun Players in Berkeley. Mark Jackson's brilliant, no-holds barred production gave me goosebumps. His modern take on the Bard's most bloody piece takes place in the world of politics and fashion. Craig Marker shines in the title role. I have seen Craig perform in several shows now and he never ceases to amaze me. As Lady M, Blythe Foster was FIERCE and gives one of the most engaging performances I have seen. You can't take your eyes off her when she's on stage. The scenes between Lady M & Macbeth are powerful, sexy and a thrill to watch. Zehra Berkman does an amazing job as the sole Witch and Kevin Clarke gives a powerful performance as Seyton an the Bloody Sergeant. I highly recommend this production which was just extended to January 18th. Kudos also to Nina Ball's set design and Jon Tracy's way cool lighting.
